Why Siri is Useless

When Siri on my phone got something wrong, I said, “Siri you’re useless!”

Listen to the audible version of this post: God in Sixty Seconds

My wife was horrified. “Don’t say that to Siri!”

But I said, “It’s not a real person. It can’t be offended.”

Siri can pretend to be offended, but we really can’t offend it.

It’s the same with God. If God is an impersonal force that runs the universe, then we can’t offend God.

But if we believe that God is personal and loving, then it’s possible to offend this God.

And it’s because God is so personal, that he was so offended, that the only loving way to remove this offence was to send his Son Jesus to take away the offence on our behalf.

Jesus dying for us proves we have a personal and loving God rather than an impersonal algorithm running the universe.

But I still think Siri is useless. There. I said it.
